Documents Required for Entry | Passport, International Passport or Foreign Passport. Citizens of the following countries are required to obtain a visa to enter Turkey: Turkey requires a visa from citizens of one EU member state (the Republic of Cyprus), as well as from countries and territories listed in Annex II of the Schengen Area — including Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, the Bahamas, Barbados, Dominica, East Timor, Grenada, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Mauritius, Mexico, Micronesia, Palau, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Taiwan, Tonga, and Tuvalu. However, citizens of most of these countries are eligible to obtain electronic visas (e-Visas). |

Restricted Items for Import | New items in original factory packaging may be brought into the country without declaration by an adult, provided the total value does not exceed €430. For electronic devices, the limit is one item per person. |
Prohibited Items for Import | Narcotics and illegal drugs, weapons and firearms, antiques, explosives and fireworks, pornographic materials, counterfeit goods, as well as radio transmitters and walkie-talkies without special permission. |
Alcohol Import Regulations | 1 liter of strong alcohol (over 22% ABV), or 2 liters of alcoholic beverages with an alcohol content of 22% or less. |
Alcohol Export Regulations | Turkish customs regulations allow each adult passenger to export up to 5 liters of alcohol (or 7 bottles of 0.7 liters). The alcohol must be for personal use only. Purchases made at Duty Free shops are included in this total limit. |
Tobacco Product Import Regulations | Adult travelers (18 years and older) are allowed to bring the following tobacco products into Türkiye without declaration: • 600 cigarettes • 100 cigarillos (cigars weighing max. 3g each) • 50 cigars • 250 grams of loose tobacco (pipe or rolling tobacco) • 200 sheets of cigarette paper (if bringing rolling tobacco) You may bring a combination of these items, as long as the total does not exceed the allowed limits proportionally. Tobacco products must be for personal use only and must be transported in hand or checked luggage. |
Tobacco Product Export Regulations | Turkish customs allows you to export a reasonable amount of tobacco products for personal use, generally following these unofficial guidelines: • Up to 2–3 cartons of cigarettes (i.e., around 400–600 cigarettes) • A modest quantity of cigars or loose tobacco (typically no more than 250g) |
Restrictions on Importing Medications and Dietary Supplements | Medications for personal use may be brought into Türkiye in quantities of up to 5 packs per medication or dietary supplement (supplement/BAA).
If a traveler needs a larger amount for the duration of their stay, it is strongly recommended to carry a prescriptionfrom a licensed medical professional. Prohibited items include: • Psychotropic and narcotic substances, such as strong painkillers containing codeine, tramadol, or morphine • Certain antidepressants, including Mirtazapine, Doxepin, Zolpidem, and Amitriptyline Attempting to bring in these substances without proper authorization or prescription may result in confiscation, fines, or legal consequences. Always check updated regulations before travel. |
Restrictions on Importing Jewelry and Luxury Goods | Jewelry valued up to $15,000 USD can be imported into Türkiye without declaration. |
Restrictions on Exporting Jewelry and Luxury Goods | Jewelry valued up to $15,000 USD can be exported from Türkiye without declaration. |
Restrictions on Importing Items of Artistic and Historical Value | Prohibited from import into Türkiye: • Antiques over 100 years old: Importing such items requires special permission from Turkish authorities. • Cultural property: Items with historical, artistic, or archaeological value may be prohibited from entry unless accompanied by proper documentation. |

Restrictions on Importing Pets | Animals must be accompanied by the following documents: International Veterinary Passport: Must include information about vaccinations, including rabies vaccination, as well as the animal’s microchip details. Veterinary Certificate: Before departure, a Veterinary Certificate Form No. 1 must be obtained, which is valid for 5 days. Certificate from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Turkey (Tarım ve Orman Bakanlığı): In some cases, an export veterinary certificate from the local office of this ministry may be required. Rabies Antibody Titer Test: For export to certain countries, especially those in the European Union, a rabies antibody titer test is required. This test must be done no earlier than 30 days after vaccination and no later than 3 months before travel. Breed Restrictions: Export of Van cats from Turkey is prohibited. Airline Requirements: Each airline has its own rules for transporting animals, including restrictions on weight, carrier size, and breeds. It is recommended to check these requirements in advance and notify the carrier of your intention to travel with a pet. |
